THE GUIDE

Welcome to the resource guide for actively anti-racist student organizations who are engaging with communities. The guide is divided into four primary categories: Understanding Identity, America's Racial Inequity, Racism in Education, and Anti-Racist Practice. Each category has a list of resources, discussion prompts, and activities that are further broken down into subcategories. It is recommended to work through the resources in the presented order, beginning with Understanding Identity and ending with Anti-Racist Practice. Click on the circles to begin engaging with the resources.

The first primary category is about understanding your own identity across various contexts. "Understanding Identity" consists of four sections that provide resources, discussion prompts, and activities that address identifying your social identities, implicit biases, your own education, and identity development.

The second primary category gives an introduction to the deep rooted history of racial inequity within the United States and how it has followed through into contemporary society. "America's Racial Inequity" consists of six sections with resources and discussion prompts that address histories of inequities, contemporary inequity, and the strength and beauty that comes from resilient communities.

The third primary category focuses in on America's education system and how racial inequity is perpetuated in schooling. "Racism in Education" is composed of five sections with resources and discussion prompts that span across school resources, academic tracking, literacy, language-based racism, and covert racist schooling practices.

The final primary category offers thought behind anti-racist practices, as well as examples of anti-racist practices being implemented in classrooms and society. "Anti-Racist Practice" consists of seven sections with resources and discussion prompts that address current anti-racist practices being applied and the critical thinking behind those practices.
